How assertive are you?

Take this short test to find out.

I often postpone asking people to do things for me
I usually back down when disagreeing with colleagues
When someone annoys me, I use hints rather than speak directly
I feel guilty when I raise my voice or speak forcefully
I hate saying no when others ask me to do something
When I ask something of others, I feel I am imposing on them
I feel flustered when others question my actions
I speak up for myself only when I get upset
I tend to put others needs before my own
I take on extra work to please people
I often apologise when I find myself in opposition to someone
I prefer to maintain a low profile and listen in meetings
I find myself typically deferring to the views of others
I avoid raising problems, hoping that they will work out on their own
I find it difficult to accept praise and will look to change the subject
