With deadlines and schedules rolling through on a daily basis, it is sometimes easy to neglect the people whose contribution we depend upon: authors! Without authors, publishers would be out of a job, but do we always give them the credit they deserve? So let’s hear about publishing from their perspective – what’s it like to be an aspiring author trying to get published? When that break arrives, what kind of relationship is established between author and publisher?

Confirmed so far:
Andrew Blackman: chosen from hundreds of entries, Andrew was the first winner of the Luke Bitmead Writer’s Bursary, winning a publishing contract with Legend Press. He has a Bachelor’s degree in modern history from Oxford University and a Master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University. He recently moved back to the UK after spending six years in New York, where he worked as a staff reporter for the Wall Street Journal.
His novel, On the Holloway Road, was published by Legend Press in February 2009.

Refreshments will be available.

Venue: Oxford University Press, Walton Street, Oxford
