Canon tales 2CANON TALES is the new and very different style of event that packed out London’s Cochrane Theatre in July 2008 and is now back for chapter two at this year’s London Book Fair! The unique format aims to promote publishing as the richly creative industry that it is, blending fantastic speakers with rapid visuals to remind us that creativity can exists at all levels of the publishing process.

We are inviting 12 speakers to each present their own 'canon tale' – a personal, visual retelling about creativity that inspires them or stories relating to current or past projects.

Speakers include:

Alison Baverstock, Publishing MA, Kingston University and author of How to Market Your Book

Roger Bratchell, Marketing Director, Random House, CCV

Jamie Byng, Managing Director, Canongate
Peter Collingridge, Managing Director, Apt Studio (blog: Times Emit)

Helen Conford, Editorial Director, Penguin Press

Cory Doctorow, science fiction author, journalist, blogger, and co-editor of boingboing.net

Speaking about the event, organisers Doug Wallace and Jon Slack said; ‘The inspiration for "canon tales" came from "Pecha Kucha", a rapid fire event that showcases ideas in architecture and design. Publishers have equally as good creative stories to tell about their own work, but haven't been as good at telling people about them. So this is where "canon tales" come in.

They continued, 'We had an amazing response to the first chapter last year, with many people getting in touch to say how it inspired them to look at the creative process in a new way. We are very pleased to hold the second chapter at London Book Fair and can't wait to welcome people to the event.’

At London Book Fair the event will take place within
Earls Court Conference Centre, Meeting Rooms 1 & 2.
