Press Forward: Updating an Outdated Industry

Saturday 19th November 2011
10am–5pm

The SYP annual conference has been in existence since the mid-1960s, and aims to bring together SYP members, graduates and professionals to debate, discuss and analyse the latest issues affecting publishers today.

Use the day to engage with the top names in publishing, and mingle with like-minded individuals with a conference programme that aims to inform, provoke and entertain. Entitled Press Forward: Updating an Outdated Industry, the theme of this year’s conference is modernisation, focusing on the ways in which the publishing industry is changing and updating and our role in its transformation.

Seminars on design, digital, rights, publicity, social media and career progression will face forward with a keen eye on each of their future developments. Our opening debate will enlist publishing experts who will use a combination of experience and crystal balls to prophesise the industry’s future. Our closing debate will then face up to the controversial challenges of Digital Rights Management and ask publishers to decide which side they support in the digital war against piracy.

*Registration fees include access to the keynote debates, three seminars or workshops, lunch and refreshments throughout the day.

The conference can also be found on Facebook and Twitter.
